The issue of overtourism came up while we were in Como.

The guy running the boat trips talked about Como becoming a ‘destination’ in recent years, mainly because of social media. You might think this is good: boat man earns €€ from tourists like me taking his boat trip! But… …it’s now harder for him to find somewhere to rent, because lots of properties have been bought up by AirBnB hosts, or second-home owners. He also now struggles to afford parking in the town. The bars&restaurants are now more expensive.
