I’ve also been noticing that when police in many big cities ask the public to locate a suspect, if there is no video or picture, they often refrain from mentioning race or any physical characteristic, just their gender and clothing. “We need the public’s help to find a man in a black sweatshirt”

Right kids that can’t read at grade level should be exposed to the opportunity to read more complex topics because why not?

Sometimes I think people just say things to be saying them. A principal at a PG high school did this once. Everyone should take AP classes because anyone can do it and if they were simply exposed they would pass!

Bystanders began yelling at Reardon, saying he didn't have to use his gun.

"She had a knife. She just went at her," Reardon says.

"She's a f***ing kid, man! Damn, are you stupid?" a man standing nearby replies. A glimpse into a sick culture. If they’re just kids why didn’t this man or other bystanders stop them?

Arguments that anti-police, pro-BLM Twitter made this month:

- they’re only teenage girls they didn’t mean to kill the Uber driver while car jacking him.

- the police officer should not have shot a teenage girl motioning to attack another teenage girl with a knife. Some stories this month involving children shot: syracuse.com/crime/2021/04/…

Always nice to see your priors confirmed: nytimes.com/2021/03/24/bri… “When Covid cases were rising in the U.S., the news coverage emphasized the increase. When cases were falling, the coverage instead focused on those places where cases were rising. And when vaccine research began showing positive results, the coverage downplayed it,...”

Shot: But census data shows that since the mid-1980s, more than half of all blacks who moved to Minnesota have had incomes below the federal poverty line. By contrast, barely 10% of blacks moving to Atlanta during that period were poor.

news.minnesota.publicradio.org/features/19970… Chaser: Across a whole host of measures — unemployment rates, wages, incarceration rates, test scores, homeownership rates — the gaps between white Minnesotans and Black Minnesotans are among the widest in the country.

When Michael Hicks and his daughter chalked “Black Lives Matter” on the pavement outside their suburban home, someone scrubbed it away within hours. nytimes.com/2020/09/23/us/… “They’re all young kids and they’re Black, they’re just troublemakers,” David Sorenson, a white suburban voter, said of the protesters,

I don’t think he’s answering his question. Floundering a bit. This is why it’s good to have adversarial questions. Sharpens you’re skills.

While I think the riots do help Trump, think he should focus on the economy more and point out Biden’s very liberal views on immigration (no enforcement) & his record of nearly 50 years.

Goal should be to move the discussion away from himself, temperament etc. Ironically Trump needs to become more policy focused.

This is how the DA describes the first shooting:

Richard McGinniss, identified by police as a reporter, said he was interviewing Rittenhouse at the time when Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, of Kenosha, confronted Rittenhouse, leading to a chase, the complaint says. According to the complaint, an eyewitness video showed Rosenbaum chasing Rittenhouse and throwing what was ultimately determined to be a plastic bag at him.

Rittenhouse attorney on Tucker. Says gun was legal, not brought across state lines and according to state law is for a 17 yo to possess. Will challenge gun charge on 2nd amendment grounds as well.

Undecided voter, says he’s in military in LA says Biden is going through cognitive decline because he can’t string together sentences and avoids the press. Venezuelan immigrant in NY voting Trump because he’s pro-life, anti-socialist.

I would much rather Trump not battle with reporters at these briefings but they are such hacks that sometimes you just have to fight back. A week or so ago the media was demanding Trump issue a nationwide order to shut down the nation. Evidently that a few states didn’t have official shut-in was troubling.

This didn’t get too much notice on Twitter. So a few days ago @NickKristof wrote an op-ed about the supposed success of Seattle effectively decriminalizing drug use.

nytimes.com/2019/08/23/opi… Except there was an issue and the readers in the comments let him know of it. He made scant mention of the deteriorating street conditions as Seattle’s homeless drug population has become more noticeable.

Here’s my view: Murkowski, Collins and Flake were all prepared to vote “no” going into Thursday and after Ford’s testimony. Then Kavanaugh came out swinging galvanizing Trump and more importantly the base. They couldn’t vote no now. Flakes little meek performance yesterday where he spoke for a minute was about that.

It’s becoming clearer that migration from the chaos and poverty in the Global South to the stable and affluent West is going to be the issue of our time.

This will outlast Brexit, Trump etc.
and will take place against a backdrop of an expansionist China & Russia. Within the past two weeks the leader of Italy refused to accept a boatload of African migrants, Germany’s Merkel has been rebuffed by her own coalition on migration and now Trump is defiantly carrying out tough border policies.
