My favorite World Series memory: Two years (and one day) ago, the @Nationals won the World Series. The team, coaches, staff, and families all stayed up late celebrating. The next morning, October 31st, the team and families were set to fly from HOU back home to DC with the trophy But it was Halloween. Many players/coaches/staff had their families with them, including their young children. All the kids showed up to the flight in costumes. But we wouldn’t land in time for them to get home and go trick or treating…

I shouldn’t have to disclose my own medical history to the public, but I’m tired of these garbage responses we’ve gotten. I have a chronic lung condition. The first time I had viral pneumonia as a result of it, I was 9 years old. I was hospitalized for weeks and put on oxygen. By the time I “recovered” I’d lost 1/3 of my body weight (at age 9), and it took nearly a year to rebuild my strength and lung capacity to even a fraction of what it was. I developed lung scarring. It still affects my breathing 2 decades later. I take medication and inhalers.

As we move forward with 2020 baseball, it’s important to think critically about how sports should be covered this year. The way we talk about 2020 sports will have to be fundamentally different from how we’ve talked about it in the past, because sports are fundamentally different Uncritical analysis of this entire environment of baseball won’t cut it anymore. Treating it like a normal season won’t cut it. At a certain point, if it’s clear that things are risking health or, God forbid, lives, I’m going to have to reflect on my own complicity or enabling.

This article messed me up. Not the negotiations part. That messed me up long ago. But the photo accompanying this article. It’s a picture of the outfield bleachers in OAK. It got me thinking: where would @whatwouldDOOdo and I be without fans? Not just at games, but in our life? 5 years ago, a young A’s fan dressed up like me on Superhero night(!!!) at the ballpark. I struck up friendship with her mom. Years later; her mom was the maid of honor at my wedding, and she was my flower girl.
