Was talking to some high school students about book bans & one rolled their eyes and said "no offense but book bans aren't a priority-climate change, racism, prejudice, gun control, abortion... those are priorities."
And I said but don't you see that they are all related? The current book bans are dangerous because they are targeting not just assigned books but book choices. They are taking away a students ability to read widely and knowledgably about issues that conservatives don't approve of such as racism, women's health, LGBTQ+, & so much more
