It's a terrible context, but I'm glad to see so many people talking about regulations like HIPAA; it's easy to embrace "we need care, not cops" but it's hard to grapple with how intertwined carcerality + criminal law are with healthcare, to grasp who these regs do + do not help
A world without cops is still a world where healthcare providers are mandated to report suspected child abuse to social workers who will remove Black + Brown kids for having poor parents + ignore the white ones.

Financial literacy is one of those things like CBT that can be incredibly helpful *under the appropriate circumstances* but thanks to neoliberal capitalist ideology, the helping professions employ it at least as often in wildly unhelpful circumstances + it's enraging.
Financial literacy is to help people manage money *when they have money to manage.* It is not designed to miraculously transubstantiate knowledge into cash! Stop using it in place of mutual aid funds, benefits apps, career coaching + other means of helping ppl actually get money!
