🧵 Do you want to hear about feelings of Russian soldiers? I will tell you about those I recently met, who are prisoners of war in a Ukrainian detention center & whom Ukraine hopes to exchange as quickly as possible for its own POWs detained in appalling conditions in Russia.

1/ I've talked to 10 POWs, one to one, who freely consented to speak to me, respecting their anonymity, & for the first time since witnessing their crimes and illegal presence in Ukraine.

I know & studied International Law: it's respected in this detention centre.

In her first tweet, widely spread here, MLP says Russia started the most dramatic geopolitical crisis of the past 20 years. She acknowledges the sufferings of Ukrainians, voicing "respect & support" to them. Talks of "heroic resistance" of Ukraine.

🇺🇦 I am just back from the mass graves site in Izium.

It is worse than anything you can imagine.

I can confirm that at least part of the people recently buried there were tortured and had violent deaths. The remains of 17 Ukrainian soldiers were found there. Their bodies were taken away for autopsies.

The smell of human remains in decomposition remained.
