If you were told you were going to die within a few months, how would it change your perspective on life?

It happened to me.

Today I'm expanding on a very personal story...

If you're moved, please RT/share: it might help you (or someone else) rethink survival across life/business...🧵Image This week, I gave a small talk at an investment conference in Richmond, Virginia.

It's organized by a dear friend and extremely brilliant long-term thinker.

I decided to present on a subject that others might find useful: if we want to compound our portfolios over many decades, how do we survive to reap the rewards?Image

Today I'm sharing a very personal story. I hope that by sharing it, I might help someone else in the world.

In February 2023, I underwent emergency brain surgery to remove what — at the time — my doctors thought could be a stage 4 glioblastoma tumor: terminal brain cancer.

I was 35, married, with an 18-month-old daughter...Image My symptoms began in January 2023. I was an otherwise healthy, if not somewhat stressed out typical mid-30s dad. No major health issues before. Didn't drink. Ate pretty healthy. Normal dude.

One day, I started feeling nauseas. Then I started projectile vomiting. Then I was dizzy. The vertigo became so intense I couldn't stand up; couldn't move my eyes without throwing up.

It felt like the room was spinning, constantly. Terrifying stuff.

I went to the hospital.
