1. Matt Eberflus:

November 13th, 2022 – Blew two 4th quarter leads vs. DET
December 4th, 2022 – Blew 4th quarter lead to GB
October 1st, 2023 – Coughed up 28-7 lead in 4th to DEN
November 19th, 2023 – Lost a 26-14 lead with 4 minutes left to DET

Not much left to say. #Bears 2. Justin Fields had almost 300 total yards against a top 10 defense, in their building.

I’d argue that performance was better than the Denver and Washington ones.

He now has a 100+ passer rating in 3 of his last 4 games.

This is how you silence the Williams/Maye talk. #Bears

1. Trading Roquan Smith is the sort of tough decision no previous GM would've had the guts to make.

Ryan Poles understands the modern NFL.

Off-the-ball LBs don't impact games like 30 years ago.

Smith is having his best year and the #Bears still have the 2nd-worst run defense. 2. Chicago now has 9 projected picks in 2023, including four in the first three rounds.

1st
2nd
2nd (BLT)
3rd
4th
4th (PHI)
5th
5th (BLT)
7th
7th comp*

Based on his first draft, Poles has a chance to completely reshape the foundation of this team.

1a. People are acting like Ryan Poles sabotaged this roster.

That's because he did.

He torpedoed it, replacing almost 2/3rds of the personnel.

His opinion was evident from the moment he took over.

It was bad and would likely have to get worse before getting better. #Bears 1b. The truth is nobody would be complaining about Poles' strategy if Justin Fields weren't on this roster.

His presence complicates everything.

The development clock on him began even before Poles arrived.

The GM was in a lose-lose situation. #Bears

1. Justin Fields has 28 passes through two games. It is really difficult to judge a QB like that.

He’s far from perfect but everything about this offense screams work-in-progress.

The best thing for everybody is to wait until the end of October. We should have answers by then. 2. Really hate to say this because he seems like a great kid.

Cole Kmet isn’t the guy at tight end.

Good tight ends don’t need constant scheming to get open. They also catch the ball.

He’s developing into a very good blocker, but the #Bears need more from the passing game.

1. The secret to the #Bears beating the Packers has never been complicated.

Want the answer? Check out the turnover margin for each time they won in the Aaron Rodgers era.

2008 - 2-2
2010 - 2-1
2013 - 1-0
2015 - 2-0
2018 - 1-1

They've never won on the wrong side of it. 2. The #Bears are 3-2 in their last five meetings with the Packers where the QB didn't throw an interception.

For all the talk about Rodgers this and Rodgers that, the fact is the Bears QBs have been grossly inefficient against Green Bay.

Justin Fields had three INTs last year.

1. Since the start of 2019, the #Bears offense has failed to crack 250 total yards for a game nine times.

Matt Nagy might be one of the best snake oil salesmen in recent memory. 1a. Justin Fields was asked to run a traditional West Coast-style offense on Sunday from the pocket against one of the best defensive fronts in the NFL.

If people needed evidence that Nagy is married to his system and will never change?

There you go. #Bears

1. Mitch Trubisky deserves lots of credit for helping the #Bears rebound over the past few weeks. They're clearly a better team with him under center.

One must stress caution though.

Context is king and the reality is a soft schedule of subpar defenses (30th, 31st, 22nd) helps. 2. The best way to describe this situation is Mitch Trubisky has returned close to his 2018 form.

He's playing efficient, confident football thanks in large part to the offense not going through him.

Back then it was Jordan Howard. This time it's David Montgomery. #Bears

1. Ryan Pace’s tenure as #Bears GM pretty much died on a Mitch Trubisky strip-sack. It doesn’t get much more poetic than that. 2. Calling back-to-back pass plays deep in your own territory with a turnover-prone QB while your RB is having a great game.

Say this for Matt Nagy. He went down staying 100% on brand. #Bears

1. The #Bears now rank 31st in the NFL in points scored and total yards.

Only one offense in team history ranked worse. That was in 2004. The Craig Krenzel/Jonathan Quinn/Chad Hutchinson era.

The fact Matt Nagy has managed this with Mitch Trubisky and Nick Foles says it all. 2. In six drafts to this point, Ryan Pace has selected three offensive linemen before the 5th round.

One was off the team after two seasons.

For a guy who talked so much about QBs being vital to success, he's shown incredible negligence in protecting his.

1. The #Bears offense is bad. We know this. Still, so is the Vikings defense.

Their secondary is gutted at corner and they have no pass rush.

If the O-line, who is getting some help back tonight, can protect Nick Foles he'll be hitting open guys. 2. Beating the Vikings this year has resulted when opponents force them into turnovers.

They have 12 turnovers in their five losses.

No turnovers in their three wins.

The #Bears defense has been painfully close to several takeaways the past few weeks. They're due.

1. The sign of a good head coach is seen in trends. From year to year, is the team improving?

Matt Nagy has gone from 12-4 to 8-8 and now 5-4 with his team losing 3-straight and clearly spiraling.

His offense has also gone from 21st to 29th, to 29th.

No improvement. #Bears 2. Want to know the story of Ryan Pace as #Bears GM?

Spent $45 million on Mike Glennon
Spent 4 draft picks including #2 overall on Mitch Trubisky
Spent a 4th round pick and $21 million on Nick Foles

Nothing more needs to be said. He took three swings at QB and struck out.

1. Mitch Trubisky was all over the place in Green Bay.

Made some outstanding plays and never quit.

Also made a few costly mistakes.

It was a microcosm of his year.

While he deserves blame, the loss is not entirely on him. He was one of the best players on offense. #Bears 2. David Montgomery concludes his seventh game of 2019 rushing for less than 50 yards.

It's probably not a coincidence the #Bears are 1-6 in those games.

I wanted to wait a bit for things to settle down before assessing what the #Bears accomplished over the past three days from the draft to undrafted free agency.

Here we go. 1. I love how Ryan Pace altered his approach to the early rounds. He shifted to targeting more proven players who were highly productive and experienced in college. #Bears.
