I’m frustrated that I have to spell this out and that we have gotten to this place:

Inscriptions are a net positive for bitcoin NOT because any of the NFTs, BRC-20 tokens, or ordinals are actually useful, but specially because they are kitsch, stupid, and scammy

🧵 1/10: A decade ago, all of the same things were said about bitcoin, and that was great because it allowed for Bitcoiners to power up the network and get to the place it is impervious to orchestrated attacks.

Inscriptions are the same—it’s a Trojan horse.

What makes Bitcoin so difficult to understand is that it is really different from what we expect.

We expect it to simply be money—a tool, device, or object—but it’s not.

It’s really something much deeper;

It is the thing that will transform all of humanity just by being. As you following the correct path of thinking about what Bitcoin is, the layers start to unravel towards questions of Being.

“Why do I need self-sovereignty? Why does Bitcoin create this?”

These then inflect an even deeper turning toward the most fundamental questioning:

1/ Over the last decade that I have been involved with Bitcoin, much of my thinking about it and what it is has changed and evolved dramatically.

Today I believe that Bitcoin is the most monumental event in the last two millennia of human history,

Here is why: 2/ Bitcoin can only be adequately understood after extremely deep contemplation. It is perhaps the most misleading object in human history for the explicit purpose of hiding, concealing, and protecting it essence so that it may accrue the needed power for its extreme mission:

After undergoing a Heideggerian induction of thought, here is a continuation of some thinking around Bitcoin.

The only way I understand Bitcoin now is through the deepest of meditations on the question:

What does it mean 'To Be' in Our World of today where fiat money rules all? What does it mean 'to be' as either a sovereign, or a subject in the statist nightmare of Our World?

What sort of new power do we have with The Internet and cryptography today?

There is a new secret of power and it is how we cut off the king's head.

I’m just gonna rant for a bit:

Modernity has transformed all of us from being people, who have emotions, agency, and souls; into nothing more than mindless drones who are slaves in an open air prison system.

There was no hope of escaping this travesty until we had bitcoin. Greed is a destructive and fundamental characteristic of all humanity. There is no way to escape the pull of power and the desire it creates.

It is this trait that all of humanity has been pulled down into, and until bitcoin, there was no escape, because of the physics of assets

1/6 I wanted to announce that I recently joined @unchainedcap as their Director of Client Services.

I strongly believe in the mission, team, and product that they are building and believe that multisig collaborative custody is the future of Bitcoin for several reasons: 2/6 I believe that multisig is Bitcoin's only way forward.

There is no reason for us to keep bitcoin on exchanges, they just become banks with all of the same trappings and failings as the legacy system.

The only way to build a new financial system using bitcoin at the base.

1/12 A thread attempting to tie some of various essays at cryptosovereignty.org together.

Please give this a read if you are interested in the some of the deeper philosophical questions bitcoin evokes in regards to the questions of sovereignty, power, and law.

👇👇👇 2/ Bitcoin creates cryptosovereignty through its original production of a new kind of social contract.

This is the first and the most important new social agreement that is based upon the magnanimity and power cryptography:
