That a relationship is old does not mean it is good..

What is the trend?

Do you feel smaller with them?

Is it a safe place to discuss your qualities and goals?

Do they look forward with you in Faith and Love?

Or do they keep your Eyes on your weaknesses and failures One reason why Strangers build your walls is that they see what You ARE, not what you were.

People tend to function from Memory, not Vision.

People from your past tend to see You as they remember you

Even positive changes could bring disruption to the group dynamic

The revenue of the average US supermarket is higher than what Borno State earns as IGR.

But they think threatening foreigners with investment and spending power with visa refusal makes sense

If we cannot be Sensible, let's at least start with Humility
Image We have lied to ourselves for 40 years

We are nothing and must accept that

We must humble ourselves and build the FOUNDATIONS

Town by Town.
City by City.
Sector by Sector.

Southerners pushing for Devolution are more pro-South than those pushing merely for tribal agenda without a viable long-term strategy..

People who are shouting but not thinking about the policies that help Southern men, women and children are not pro-South. The people making an entire region sit at home every Monday are not Northern Muslims..

This thing is not merely about where people hail from.

What option provides the best LONG-TERM possibilities for the Southern Regions?

Shouting over Tribes and Regions is not enough.

This is from a 2019 Miyetti Allah press conference..

Speaker is Abdullahi Bello Badejo.
Leader of Miyetti Allah.

You can see the OFFICIAL stance on Atiku for not supporting their ways.

Those of you telling lies about Atiku over tribal hostility and ambition should be careful Atiku is arguably the most Southern-friendly major Northern politician in Nigeria's history.

Elections come and go

but the South will need progressive Northern allies to take Nigeria forward..

If we are UNFAIR to the ones we have, then we will get more Elrufais and Pantamis..

Tinubu has two key rivals.

One is a Northern Muslim who is more likely to get the votes of those who want a Muslim.

The other is a Southerner who could get protest votes from even the Southwest.

In going for extremes, Tinubu has isolated himself It's difficult to see why the people from Niger up to Katsina would vote for a SW Muslim over a Northern Muslim that's generally seen as more competent.

Then you then have to deal with the Christian population from the Middle-Belt down to the South.

Their earnings in Nigeria are likely to be affected by inflation in the long run.

That N24m is $46k that they'll be able to easily achieve with their improved CV while living in a better country. A lot of my family and friends have left the country and i can clearly see that they have better lives over there..

What we needed to do in 2015 was use devolution to push the 35 states into being more productive..

An 8year teething period would have been almost done with by now.

Sad but at least we can push again to get it done.. There was economic growth from 1999-2015

Instead of focusing on decentralisation to get 36 different state economies growing, we chose to vote in the High Priest of Over-Centralisation himself..

We said we would fare better with one Superman in Abuja instead

It'll NEVER work.

Everyone is shouting now
but the History was there

His opinions on Sharia.
Contempt for Education
Run-in with Oyo Governor over Herdsmen.
Economic ideas
Cruelty, etc

But people said we needed a wicked hard man

Anger is not enough
Nigerians should consider their own culpability As terrible as things are, we have to resist the temptation to go overboard with Anger and Hysteria.

Because we actually need careful nuanced thinking to deal with these multi-layered problems.

Natural reactions are a disadvantage sometimes.

We need to rise above Instinct.

The order we need in Nigeria cannot come from a president alone.

The governors are also going to have to bring stability, calm and a clear vision that encourages people to align..

We need layers on layers of governance and leadership.

The Chaos is too much. And the order we need is not the type that comes from violence or threatening people.

The idea that that was what we needed was what made some people vote for Buhari.

That model only helps create a culture of violence as we can clearly see..

It's probably okay to insult people for trying to be reasonable instead of lashing out..

It's definitely easy but probably ok.

Depends on your perspective..

But eventually we have to find SOLUTIONS for the people we claim to care about.. Some of us think that being pragmatic and not letting rip with abuse means the person is happy with the situation.

Actually it's about knowing what you have actual control over and focusing on that instead of getting angry about things that you cannot control..

Maybe this could help us grasp what it took for a certain Northern bloc to deliver a SW presidency
and a SS presidency.

We now call them demons for not committing to a 3rd Southern president in a party that had never had a Northerner do one full term.

Maybe it isn't that easy. These arguments won't go away.

So what's the bearable and pragmatic solution?

Weaken the Presidency.

Devolution.

Strengthen the states so you are protected and capable of chasing regional development
even if a Pantami becomes president in 2045..

I don't see any other way.

Actually Nigerians did it using Buhari as a proxy.

Nigerians believed that all they needed was a ruthless and honest man who would share the oil money properly to everyone.

We refused to accept that our individual states had to become more productive so we sabotaged the process And if you look properly, we haven't really abandoned that posture..

We are in election season and Nigerians have studiously ignored hard-nosed discussions about the directions their states should take.

We are using the presidential aspect partly as a diversion

PDP is imperfect for sure..

But what they were getting done from 1999-2015 was taken for granted..

Young people were starting businesses and buying new cars with white-collar incomes..

We just needed to start devolution and have the State Govts step up Chicken used to be a thing people did at birthdays and Christmas.

That's the reason why we don't really have any delicacies associated with festive occasions.

We have no real foods associated for special occasions.

All we do is just increase the meat in the Rice.

We were POOR

It's nothing new to have people dissatisfied enough with the PDP to leave and their supporters get angry.

Sometimes they return.
Sometimes they flourish elsewhere.

It's okay. People have that right.

Nobody assassinated Anyone so people don't have to become enemies over it. Atiku left unhappily at some point.

Saraki and others also did so and their supporters voiced out their dissatisfaction.

That's politics.

So it happening with PO is okay.

We can express our dissatisfaction without treating each other like mortal enemies.

Everytime Nigeria makes a little progress, our obsession with an ultrafast and perfect outcome makes us sabotage the entire thing.

A Goose lays a Golden Egg and we cut it open thinking we are going to see a million golden eggs inside

We don't want to do process. Buhari came in 1984 and people clapped and claiming that NEPA,etc were the worst thing ever.

Awolowo, Jakande, Ambrose Alli and Co were locked up.

Now we view them differently but our parents clapped then.

We did it again with Buhari 34 years later.

We are a manic people.

We are obsessed with miracles and magic.. Systems move Nations forward.

Messiahs are what people crave when they don't want to do the boring unexciting work needed to build a society.

I will forever have a certain view of key Southern ex-governors who ignore the more achievable task of regional development
and set about wasting decades dragging with Northerners over presidential tickets

I don't care the region.

SS. SW. SE.

It's egotistical nonsense. You have the stature to unite your region around a development vision and can drive it..

Get the people and institutions involved.
Every state university and polytechnic involved contributing.

But nooooooo. You want to argue with Kano and Jigawa politicians

Using Bible Scriptures as an excuse but using the same "he raised Men" excuse that the most unscrupulous party members hold on to.

Regional development doesn't matter?

Education? Employment?

You people, man.. Tomorrow you'll be preaching nonsense.

If nothing else, think about the millions who don't see a clear path to economic stability and are increasingly tempted to become fraudsters or violent criminals.

Is there an issue more important than Devolution and Restructuring for the next president?

Especially for the South.

Is there anything more important than the Nigerian states being positioned for self-reliance and economic productivity?

Honest question.. We have focused on personalities and ethnicities of candidates and ignored the principles.

We've had two Southern presidents since 1999.

No magic is coming from getting another one.

Devolution and Restructuring will be what gets INSTITUTIONAL change.

This Emefiele thing.

A former Bank MD. Wealthy.

I really don't like the Nigerian Elder.

They are weirdly committed to destroying their environment before they pass on.. They are very destructive.

They'll steal money they can't spend and destroy their society

And then talk about Society being ruined by modern voters with a straight face..

The PDP has had three Presidents.

TWO of them have been Southerners.

If GEJ had won in 2015,
PDP would have been responsible for Southerners being Nigerian Presidents from 1999-2019
(barring the 2yrs Yar'adua was in office)

It's absurd to accuse it of being anti-South. Two out of three PDP presidents from the South.

If a Third Southern PDP president out of Four is going to emerge in 2023, then fine.

But it is absurd to insist that it happens by forceful zoning in a party that has only had a Northern president for 2 years in its history.
