good morning from Day 5 of Ken Paxton's impeachment trial. Based on Dan Patrick's tally after lunch on Friday + my questionable counting skills, the state has just under 14 hours left and defense has about 14.5.

According to Dan Cogdell, Mark Penley will be on the stand today. Birdwell, who was in the Pentagon and injured on 9/11, leads a prayer after senators (jurors) stood for a moment of silence.

In other news, one of the high profile lawyers involved quoted Hunter S. Thompson to me on his way to the Senate floor. Any guesses?
