Press conference still going on, broadcasting on Youtube.
Governor Anies says that at the current rate of case growth, Jakarta's isolation wards will be full by Sept 17th. They are trying to increase capacity by 20%, but even then the increased capacity will be filled by mid-October.

After passing 174,000 cases, President @jokowi says Covid cases in Indonesia under control
Even as there are increases in some regions, compared to other countries, Indonesia's position is relatively under control. -President Jokowi
Attention foreigners stranded in Indonesia: The advice in this article, re. travel to Singapore, via Batam then back to Indonesia is wrong.
Once you leave Indonesia, you can't return: Indonesia is currently not issuing Visa Free or On Arrival entry. 1/

The deadline for you to leave Indonesia/arrange for a visa has been postponed to Sept 20th. If you wish to stay, the best way is to apply for a visa. The visa will now serve as a stay permit, so no need to travel abroad to collect it. You will need an Indonesian sponsor. 2/

Another patient in Bali with multiple tests (21 so far) without the 2 consecutive negatives required for discharge.
The 2 negatives protocol uses up tests that could be utilized to detect/trace new cases, especially where testing resources are limited.

The WHO and the US CDC: people can be considered recovered and non-infectious 10 days after their symptoms began, as long as they have been symptom-free for three days.
Indonesia is wasting too many tests on known cases. For example, today 17,757 tests were conducted, BUT only on 5,826 people.
Some of these tests are "wasted" on recovering patients, because Indonesia requires 2 negative results in a row to discharge from the hospital.
Here are some more extreme samples: A patient in Bali had to be tested 12 times in a row, because they couldn't get 2 negatives in a row.
Indonesian official data released by the Covid-19 task force contains some "inconsistencies". First, these two are dated May 23, but second one was released May 24th. That one claims 11,013 tests, but if you subtract the cumulative tests between the two days you only get 8,815.🤷
In fact, the last time the total test matched the difference between the daily totals was May 22. (We checked, 229,334 - 219,975 is indeed 9,359!)

Another record day in Indonesia, with 693 Covid19 cases. What makes it worse is that only 6,340 people were tested. This gives a positive rate of 11%, which means far too few are tested. Ideal positive rate should be lower than 5%.
Compare this to South Korea, where a night club cluster resulted in 133 positive cases. In order to find these, they tested 35,000 people! That's a positive rate of 0.4%! This is what contact tracing needs to look like to control Covid19.

News reports that Jokowi both did and did not distribute food parcels in Bogor saturday night. A video has circulated showing masses of people supposedly gathering to receive the parcels, ignoring physical distancing measures. 1/

A presentation purported to be from Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment LB Pandjaitan outlines Indonesia's Covid-19 response. It looks rather well informed. 1/

For example, it emphasizes mass testing to be one of the most crucial aspects in Covid-19 response. Especially in light of asymptomatic cases, which they are aware of. Also mentions establishing 17 PCR testing locations, with 1000 tests/day per location capacity(!!) 👍 2/

The scariest Indonesian statistic on Covid-19 is NOT the increase in cases (+130 to 1285), nor the number of deaths (+12 to 114). It is that even this late in the pandemic, when other countries are doing tens of thousands of tests per day, Indonesia is only up to 512 test/day.
