From the UK perspective its like we never learn.

We need to have a serious discussion (which we won't have) about the UK's place in the world, militarily. We seem to think it now has something to do with keeping China contained in the Indo-Pacific region or acting as Vietnam's coast guard meanwhile we can't even defend our own borders.

Fine if this really has been thought through I doubt very much it has.

Seems like Boris (and potentially the General Staff) grandstanding without any regard for what it means in practice should things turn hot.

When the government confirmed it would begin a vaccination programme for 12-15 year olds even though the JVCI did not find there were obvious medical benefits for it they justified it by saying it would help avoid the disruption of education for those children. It released modelling that showed that vaccination would help save 110,000 school days being lost over the winter/spring which sounds impressive until you realise it equates to about 15 mins per child. If you think about it - the time taken to give the vaccine, get and confirm consent on its

I hate wearing masks I hate seeing other people wearing them, I hate seeing the discarded ones all over the ground. I hate I hate the sensation of being trapped in a breathing swamp of my own self, as each damp exhale rolls back onto my face.

I don't want to live in an open-air hospital, or a cosmopolitan leper colony.

Why did the Corbyn project failure?

Mainly because it was a class project of the lower half of the PMC's, who at best ventriloquized the working class and worst despised them.

Corbynism’s political downfall was clearly an insufficient commitment to enacting the democratic vote of the 2016 referendum; instead, proposing a second referendum was seen as too great an electoral temptation to resist.

Corbynism was dead by mid-2019 (if not earlier), Labour got predictably obliterated in the 2019 General Election,

What work does the prefix “eco-” do in the term “eco-socialism”? If you believe

a) that capitalism is the root cause of climate change and broader environmental degradation,

and

b) that only the organized resistance of the working class against the capitalist class will alter the nature of capitalism, then the term “socialist” does just fine to describe your politics. Either you are aiming to empower working-class people to wrest control over production

"The better and more comprehensive the data is the more informed the policy will be. A complete overhaul of the current reporting of Covid data is urgently needed. Meanwhile, let’s leave Mr Burnham alone" .

Carl Heneghan 👍 Quite unbelievable that people like him and epidemiologists like Francois Balloux were not seconded onto groups like SAGE - they are people who are really strong on the importance of the science being evidence based and that scientists

Drakeford as usual trying to be clever. Yesterday he was tweeting that Wales test and trace system was contacting 94% of contacts. Yet Starmer was saying one of the reasons for a circuit breaker was to get a grip on the failing test and trace system. 😉

Which is it guys? Unfortunately the way the Welsh create their figures for hospitalisations is similar to what they were doing in Scotland till a few weeks ago when scottish figures were reduced by 2/3's. I think off the top of my head they include

Tiers of Clown - The Brains Trust in charge of all this have no other weapons. Certainly not their intellect or vision. The short notice at which they are shifting through these tiers is a bit ridiculous. Not giving the hospitality sector a chance to prepare. As if they didn't have it tough enough already.

Actually, our current economic system and all actors profiting from it need a scapegoat to explain the collapse of the system.

The same politicians who now express their worries about the well-being of their population have been advocating the dismantlement of the health care in the recent years.

If people continue to watch by keeping silent, the whole thing will result in a reset which will be detrimental to the great majority of the population.

This crisis is like nothing we have seen in history.

We have an average-sized
