Through my Joining Forces initiative, I’ve met with military-connected spouses across the country and around the world to hear how we can better support their careers.

We brought their stories back to the White House — and Joe listened. Our service members shouldn’t have to choose between their love of our country and their love of family.

Supporting our military-connected spouses — and this Executive Order — are matters of national security.

As we celebrate 50 years of Title IX, I’m thinking about these photos of Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to officially run the Boston Marathon. When she began the race, people started shouting and cursing at her. You can see she is mid-stride, her eyes worried but determined.

Kathrine finished that race and she made history.

Today, @Surgeon_General, @SelenaGomez, and I met 30 young leaders who are advocating for more mental health support in their local communities.

With the hope that their journeys will inspire others, I am sharing a few of their stories. @Surgeon_General @selenagomez Jazmine is a member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe, and by opening up about her own mental health struggles, she sparked a conversation in her community.

Now, she studies psychology and Native American history to support future generations of indigenous people.

As we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, I want to share a story about my 12th grade English teacher. At first, she wasn’t my favorite teacher, but she had this presence – like a sun that pulled us all forward with her gravity.

We were all intimidated by her. Every essay she returned to me initially came marked up in red ink.

In honor of Month of the Military Child, we added a new feature to the East Wing: artwork created by military-connected children. 💕

Children of our service members and veterans don’t wear a uniform, but they serve too, and art provides an outlet to express their experiences. Thank you to @MilitaryChild and @KidsRank for their help bringing this inspiring exhibit to the East Wing of the White House.

Here are a few pieces of artwork on display today ⤵︎

I imagine many of us are feeling the weight of what is happening in Ukraine over recent days.

Parents are sitting in front of the television with their children, explaining reports from thousands of miles away. Teachers are standing in front of classrooms, answering questions of ‘why’ and ‘what is going to happen next?’

Our military families are acutely aware that events taking place in Europe may have a rippling effect on the future of their loved ones in uniform.

Community colleges don’t just improve individuals’ lives – they strengthen our country as  a whole. Community colleges accept everyone – regardless of age, race, income or family legacy.
