There are many people who I love deeply that I have completely forgotten. People ascribe morality behind memory and permanence. “If it was important you’d have remembered,”we regularly forget to take ‘addictive’ medication. To feed ourselves. So forgetting an entire love story?

I broke down today. I can’t understand how people I know can be going to movies, concerts, and conventions whilst a genocide is going on like things are normal, my partner held me as I cried: I understand the woman who lit herself on fire more than I do some of my best friends. I have contemplated self-immolation more in the past two months than I’ve thought about going to see Renaissance and I sobbed in utter confusion at how anyone is able to achieve any sense of normalcy while all of these people are being killed en masse.
