~4-years ago, this company started as an education platform for kids ages 4-9.

We had 200,000 students on it.

But, struggled to monetize.

In a moment of desperation, I decided to pivot -- it turned into @_buildspace.

Now, nearly 2-years later...it's time for another change 🧵 The co has gotten way bigger than I could have imagined -- thousands of lives have been deeply affected, millions in revenue, etc.

So, what are we doing next...

Well, we've been working on it for ~6-mos.

Just going to keep it straight and give you the one-liner + some details.

For most of my life, I had a bad stutter.

Imagine not being able to complete more than 4-5 sentences in a row without stopping.

Had zero confidence talking to people, so I started talking to a camera.

Made 1-2 YT videos a week -- vlogs and skits.

A clip from when I was 13: Ended up making over ~600 videos.

It paid off.

As I made these -- my stutter slowly went away and I gained a ton of confidence + got pretty good at storytelling.

Even developed a small audience!

I've now seen over 25,000+ Javascript/web devs jump from web2 to web3.

Many of them now have full-time careers at web3 companies, or are starting web3 companies/projects of their own!

Here's a thread on how to build your way into a crypto career 👇 First -- ship a basic Ethereum dapp to prod w/ Solidity that lets your friends send messages to each other on-chain.

This will give you the base you need to do everything else!

All you need is some basic web dev knowledge to start (some JS and React).

Most people don't know this, but @_buildspace was the result of a pivot we did 6-months ago.

Initially, we were working on ZipSchool for ~2 years -- a product for kids K-5.

Here's my quick story on pivoting/ getting startup ideas 🧵 You don't need an idea to start a company.

All you need as a starting point is a market with users you enjoy talking to. If you enjoy talking to them, you'll naturally want to talk to them.

The more you talk to them, the more clarity you'll get.

Simple as that.

Over the weekend -- ~200 people came out to Enugu, Nigeria for @_buildspace Africa.

This was the first irl event funded by our community governed treasury + it was completely organized by our NFT holders in Nigeria.
