1/12 I can’t let this go. Last week “All Things Considered” aired a segment on the structure of DNA that named only Watson and Crick. When people squawked they issued a “correction” (npr.org/2023/03/01/116… ).

To understand this you need to go back to the 1950s when the western medical world classified births as male, female, male pseudohermaphrodite, female pseudohermaphrodite and true (real) hermaphrodites. Thread: (2).In this period neither DSD nor intersex existed as medical descriptions. Surgery was done on DSD infants at birth, infants assigned as either male or female and parents instructed never to speak of the matter again.
