Time ⏰

I got married age 25. I was an undergraduate then. Some said I was too young; but I got married because It was my time.

I had nothing. It was tough for years. Waited for four years to get a good job. It happened at my time. A cousin of mine while I was in 100L finished from Bowen university age 22. It was his time.

He traveled to the UK age 23 and got a job. His annual remuneration as at then was 13,744,000 converted to naira. He completed his first house here in Nigeria age 27. It was his time.

Being Second Born!

So being the second born, I fought my elder brother a lot. I don’t know if I am the only one who did this, but ‘I no respect am samsam’. ‘I no dey answer am if he send me anything’. If he tells me to watch the plates, I will ask him, “what will you now do”? It was always a fight.

But the turning point was when he gained admission into the university and I was seeing less of him.

Many things are wrong with this Generation.

A generation where a teen can boldly display a Venza and no one cares where the money is from. A generation where skit makers will flaunt a mansion of 200M and everyone starts singing their praise.

A generation where parents can not question their “under age” son’s income means.

Many years ago, I was staying with a grandma in Ekiti state. I was just a tot. Maybe a little older.
We had an Igbo guy who had rented one of the rooms from grandma. His name is Ikenna. He had nothing tangible doing then. Whatever his case was, he was not living hardy. We children in the neighborhood all disliked him because he had nothing to giveaway freely. Never.
We tagged him stingy.

Some facts:

Last week, I was told someone requested for my daughter to be her little bride.

I asked who. Then I realized it was someone I don’t know and have never met. I turned down the request. My wife said the person already spoke with her. That she likes Desire ( My daughter’s name). I told her I don’t even know her. And can’t allow her to be with a stranger.

So there is this friend. While in school, for every of his holiday, he would spend it at his Big sister’s house, which also is in the same city with that of his Dad.

He is the last born. After school, he returned to his Big sister’s house. He was helping out with the domestic works and also look after his nephew and nieces. He would bath for the kids, prepare food for them, take them to school and also go and bring them with the car.

Husband to big sister was a pilot. So most of the time, he is not always around.

When I newly got wedded.
I had the believe that all a man needed to do is to work, so he can provide for his family.

So I do work hard. I did extra jobs too; make provisions and live a life I have always wanted. Having done my part as a man, I was expecting my wife to be perfect in her own role in the home also even though she was into her own personal creative work.

Whenever I get home; I would sit, relax and wait to be served.

Whoever loves his wife, loves himself!

Very early in my marriage, I remember vividly my wife complained about her phone which was not working well anymore due to battery 'ish' and distaste; so she was stylishly demanding for a new phone. Each time the phone ‘make’ a mess, she get sad and i always feel like getting her a new phone forthwith.
I was using Q10. She was using a Techno phone but to her; it's like I should have compassion on her and give her my phone. She didn't say it but her body language did.
