The plan is to keep in custody in perpetuity.
He's an election-risk.

If he's released, many NASS hopefuls would kiss their candidacy goodbye! It is not only Buhari that is holding him, South East National Assembly members are in the mix too! Nnamdi Kanu and his IPOB will not bar elections in the South East outrightly, but they would influence it massively, and we know where the pendulum would swing.

It is simple logic that they would want to keep him at bay, at least, until after the general elections.
