It used to be a first-year communications student in college learned about FCC licenses, what they were, why they were there, and why the 1st Amendment does not really apply to them in the way that they do to cable, Internet, or the street corner. Jimmy Kimmel still has the same 1a rights everyone else has. The public airwaves are owned by the public, and the public (with government as its agent) has the right to demand standards that you do not get in any other venue.
