There are 4,929 waterbodies in England. Only 16% of them – 14% of rivers – are currently at good ecological status or potential.
The target is 100% by 2027. That’s what it says in the Water Framework Directive regulations.

Over 2 years ago Fish Legal notified @NatResWales that environmental damage was being caused to the River Wye by Intensive Poultry Units in Wales. @NatResWales denied it. No evidence they said, looking at data from 2009 – 2015...
