OK, let me start with the big picture. I can't even describe how depressing it was to read Royals Twitter after the new CBA was agreed upon. Nothing, and I mean nothing, helped level the playing field between big markets and small markets. Yet small-market Twitter celebrated. (1) Big-market scribes celebrated as well and no one pointed out the massive gap in competition level. LA, NY, Texas are still getting close to $300M in local TV revenue.KC, Cincy, Pitt, etc., are maxing out around $50M. And no, revenue sharing doesn't even begin to close the gap (2}

I feel like a rant about the MLB/players union negotiations but I don’t think the players or most national ball scribes will appreciate my perspective. Ok. I will get bombarded with stats about payroll vs. wins, but the truth is only one small-revenue team (the Royals) has won a title in baseball in the last 30 years. Teams with massive local TV revenue have an unfair advantage. That is a broken system. (1)
