A major piece of the project to build housing for students and low-income residents in Berkeley's People's Park just fell apart. RCD, the nonprofit developer has pulled out, in part because @UCBerkeley's actions caused it to lose federal funding. berkeleyside.org/2023/05/11/peo… When @UCBerkeley went in w/bulldozers in the summer of 2022, RCD hadn't finished its own EIR. The federal government said that violated guidelines and said the supportive housing project for 125 formerly homeless was no longer eligible for federal funds. That was a blow.
