Image I've said it before and I'll say it again - one of the major reasons why they started this war is just to not allow Ukrainians to live better than Russians. It's dangerous to the regime as it's damaging the imperial idea that Russians must have more money and more comfort than people in the colonies. If not - they'll question the governmental policies and it will be the only red line that can break the social agreement

I often criticize the shit FT publishes about Ukraine but here I'm 100% agree ft.com/content/e00dd6… Only NATO membership can prevent the next war in Europe, there must not remain any grey zones in our security and to narrow the gap between the end of this war and a safer continent - the alliance must provide a clear path toward Ukraine's membership.

We have only two options for how to prevent another war after this one. The first is to relocate nuclear warheads to Ukraine or let Ukraine join NATO. Only the second one is realistic but, sadly, there is still no political will for creating a new security structure in Europe If Ukraine won't become a NATO member - the war won't be ended as Russia will constantly threaten the biggest European country with a new escalation. And, by doing this, they will eventually get a way to blackmail the EU.
