Been in a bit of funk recently but it hasn’t slipped my awareness that the @metpoliceuk used their resources to fund a record shop which preyed on the unsuspecting Black men that would frequent it. The hypocrisy being that I work in an electronic music space which consistently… Pushes out messaging allowing young adults to practically experiment safely with Class A drugs. The entrapment of young Black men using a vehicle of social mobility such as music which for some is all they have to change their circumstances is beyond wicked.

Some speak from the intellectualised theoretical perspective only because they’ve never had to deal in the practical context. Sitting indoors in your formative years reading books whilst others “lived it” to then chastise people in your adult years is a practice I’m not cool with If you don’t understand a way of living. You can always listen sometimes. But in relation to youth and criminality. I don’t think some people understand outside the dictionary definition of what happens in “endz” ...to say there’s a psychological effect is an understatement.

Of course it’s always “Happy Mother’s Day”....But this day, this year, after the week we’ve had feels so disingenuous it’s unreal. I can definitely understand now how Mothers Day would have been devised by men to atone for their behaviour the rest of the year. There’s duality in parenting which means the experience of a mother is directly related to that of the father. So a mother is VALUED by collaboration.

Culture is something you live and breathe because it’s something you’re passionate about. Counter-Culture that has to be developed to change real problematic aspects of society has to be undertaken with the same vigour. Hence why some of us sound like “broken records” Men have to openly disagree and professionally adhere to new standards. If as a man you are uncomfortable of having one to one conversations because ironically you yourself fear repercussions/reprisals then simply withdraw all support to start with. Especially professional.
