There is so much euphemism, coded language and obfuscation in these two @AP paragraphs that a casual reader would have no idea what’s at stake is chemical castration of and grown men exposing themselves to children.

That’s literally what this is about Image They want YOU to be SUPPORTIVE of these things. They want to HIDE the reality of these things from YOU, and make YOU feel BAD for opposing them. Don’t let dishonest media outlets mislead you.

The simple fact is when prominent disseminators of info cover the weird shit you are doing with kids, it’s the weird shit that’s earning you the attention, NOT the people covering it! Good moment to remind people:

“This is not about CRT, this is more about equity.” Is perhaps among the more dissonant interpretations of policy. Big red flag too when media is basically in lockstep telling parents that what they’re seeing — racial affinity groups, racial “equity” initiatives that openly discriminate — and say “actually this is not CRT.”

They’re speaking past parents, deliberately, to obfuscate.

This seems super ominous, but all it boils down to is AT&T giving OAN a DirectTV contract not unlike the contracts it gives the “7 or 8” other lefty outlets, among them MSNBC, a network that actively helped whip the public into a frenzy of fire last summer reuters.com/investigates/s… I know that wider media would never admit it and would find the idea utterly hilarious, but objectively, MSNBC puts out as much misinfo and invective as any other network, OAN included. It’s just that they are part of the media majority, and so they escape similar scrutiny.

This is a pretty flimsily supported conspiracy theory that (of course) blames the Koch brothers for the public interest in and resistance to CRT.

How does it do that? Well … It says (several grafs deep) that 28 think tanks with “known ties” to the Koch Network produced 79 articles on CRT in schools during a whole year (!!!)

I just read the Biden/Stephanopolous transcript and I’m shocked at how poorly Biden was held to account. I’m not sure if George’s knowledge of the situation is just superficial or if the intent was to speak in generalities as much as possible, but wow, really poor interview. I keep seeing this assertion that conservatives don’t know what critical race theory is, and it’s flat out wrong. For a little more than a year, the proponents of this destructive ideology have been rebranding it “diversity training,” and when conservatives called bullshit and somewhat successfully started identifying it in pedagogy and policy, the new line is they don’t know what it is.

1. To demonstrate my own, as an example, the first conversation about gain of function I had was May 1, 2020. It led me down a month's long rabbit hole researching highly technical papers. Sometimes it took me a week or more to read and fully understand 10 pages. I did not actually pitch a story on it until first week of Jan.

I would love to say I was ahead of everyone. I wasn't. We did some reporting on lab leak, but we didn't get really aggressive on it until recently.

A lot of that is my fault. I was trepidatious.

Reading the Vanity Fair story and a bunch of things jump out at me just concerning the mythology of early 2020.

Many in establishment and corporate media have been blaming Trump for their own efforts to suppress lab leak hypothesis.

It’s odd. It reads like TDS. Do your fucking brains shut off when Trump talks? Does the sound of his voice negate all ability to reason?

Trump’s “racism” in this case was just a reactionary response to wider media and elite institutions adopting Pro China postures and Chinese propaganda wholesale.

One thing I will never forget:

We are having this conversation exactly a year late because the media wanted to make sure Biden won the election. The irony is that Trump probably would have lost anyway, but the fact remains, any line of inquiry remotely perceived as beneficial to Trump had to be stamped out … and anyone willing to pursue it was treated as an insane pariah AND viciously suppressed on social media.
