Who wrote the Pentateuch? Traditionally these first five books of the Bible- Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy, have been attributed to Moses; however in recent times some have suggested a variety of sources. (1/35) Despite its current popularity, however, this is a relatively modern idea. The first major figure to question Mosaic authorship was the philosopher Spinoza in the 17th century, however the consensus remained that Moses was author well into the 19th century. (2/35)
