a guide to why you should hire an artist and never pay for generative 3D services.

on the left is an AI generated Squirtle model posted earlier today. on the right is a Squirtle I modeled tonight using only that one reference image. my sculpt took an hour and a half.
Image "okay George but the AI generated one looks pretty good!"

lets take a look at both of these meshes with the textures off. a good 3D model will still look like the character without the textures. this looks like cement. this is a common trick gen 3D companies use.

it's time for a thread of random zbrush tips!! first tip is that the zbrush logo upside down is still a Z. okay im sorry real tips below! Image frame mesh - quickly make curves following a shape. you can have it follow the border of a mesh, or around a polygroup. combine with curve shape brushes to get cool border ridges or highly specific shapes Image

there is now a "DefendingAIArt" subreddit where no debate is allowed and it's a wild place over there. ImageImageImageImage if i didn't know better I would legitimately think this was satire intended to make them look bad.

Are your Zbrush files TOO DANG BIG? Are you trying to submit a 4 GB Zbrush file to a client?? Are you ready to go on a journey to see how you can optimize your Zbrush file sizes and make everyone's life easier? "Why does it matter? I'm an artist. I am a tortured soul. File size is but a fleeting thought before I venture back into the void of self-doubt about my craft"

Yes, but large files
- take longer to transfer
-are harder to work with
-will probably become someone else's job to fix
