General Fred Akuffo executed by a firing squad Image 41 years ago, on 26 June 1979, Ghana’s former head of state, Lieutenant General Fred Akuffo was executed by a firing squad after being convicted of “corruption, embezzlement and using his position to amass wealth” after a short trial by the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) which had seized power under the leadership of Flt. Lt Jerry John Rawlings. He was executed together with General Akwasi Afrifa, also a former Head of state and Major General Robert Kotei, Colonel Roger Felli, Air Vice Marshal George Yaw Boakye and Rear Admiral Joy Amedume.

Image In our extensive investigation into the "Imperial Homes Property Fraud," it has been revealed that in 2022, Mr. Raymond Maglo purportedly forged the signature of Imperial Homes Limited's CEO, Mr. Francis Biney, in order to facilitate the sale of a property to Derrick Kwesi Appiah, without Mr. Biney's knowledge.
Unfortunately, Mr. Appiah and his representative, Ernest Danso, omitted any further inquiry with Imperial Homes Limited to confirm property ownership, choosing instead to rely on Mr. Maglo's misinformation and transferring funds to him.

While preparations for independence were underway, supporters of the Togoland Congress Party were busy setting up military training camps in Alavanyo as part of a plot of violent disturbances with elements of the N.L.M. The police moved in to dismantle the camp and in the ensuing riots three people were killed.  Two members of parliament – S. G. Antor and Mr. Kojo Ayeke – were tried, found guilty and sentenced to six years imprisonment but their convictions were quashed on appeal because of a misdirection in the summing of the original trial judge.
