OVERNIGHT: Colonel Matt Langer, MN State Patrol, said around 40 arrests were made following protest at the Brooklyn Center Police Department. Some citations were issued and bookings ranged from curfew violations to rioting. More accurate numbers will be available today.
Langer also said a few officers have minor injuries after being hit with debris thrown by protestors. He was unaware of any protestors being injured.

NEW: Defense in #DerekChauvinTrial is requesting sequestration of jury after what happened in Brooklyn Center last night when a black man was shot and killed by police during a traffic stop.
Defense said he understands it does not involve these same parties but the emotional response that that case creates sets the stage for a jury to say they won't vote not guilty because they're worried about the outcome.

I am sick. I am irate.
My dad messaged me this morning to tell me a driver was yelling at every Asian parent at the bus stop, including him, to get out of America, or they’ll be killed. Killed.
He was dropping off his grandson in East Saint Paul near Lake Phalen. The woman yelled at him first and then proceeded to drive by all the other Asian guardians waiting with their children to get out or be killed.

My dad just called. He said a reporter from another local outlet asked him if he’d do an interview about how he felt about the attacks. He declined. He said he feels safe now but didn’t want to be the next target.
But this brings up a larger issue. Newsrooms: It’s not about getting a soundbite from an AAPI person for this story. There needs to be deeper work to understand the history of why there is so much hurt, anger, sadness, confusion.
