Good news, New Mexico: half of the state has moved into a less restrictive level and zero New Mexico counties are currently in the Red Level!
Every New Mexico county will get to Turquoise, but we can't let our guard down – we have to stay vigilant to ensure we don't lose ground.
Thirteen New Mexico counties may currently operate at the Turquoise Level: Catron, De Baca, Hidalgo, Lea, Los Alamos, McKinley, Quay, Roosevelt, San Juan, Santa Fe, Sierra, Socorro and Union.
In recent weeks, COVID-19 has spread rapidly throughout all regions of New Mexico, including an increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations.
In order to stem this alarming rise of COVID-19 statewide, renewed public health regulations will go into effect beginning Friday, October 16.
Without a vaccine, we have only a few tools against this awful, invisible enemy:
- We must wear our masks
- We must avoid large groups of people
- We must limit our travel outside of the home, particularly our time in enclosed indoor spaces

Today I was humbled to have the opportunity to initiate an important & overdue conversation about racism in our state. I am committed to appointing a Council for Racial Justice to hold the state accountable, and to centering justice & equity in my administration going forward.
This council's membership – and its mission – is not yet finalized. But we will not let this moment pass us by, because this action is overdue.
New Mexico can lead in addressing the generational pain and injustice that have sparked global peaceful protests.

This legislative session was truly a turnaround. After eight years of stagnation, and after sixty days of hard work, sixty days of agreement & disagreement alike, we have demonstrable results. This session has been a sterling example of productive and substantive good governance.
I am incredibly proud to have one of the strongest Cabinets in recent history, all unanimously confirmed this session and including the highest percentage of female Cabinet members in state history.

Today I released my first executive budget proposal ahead of the 2019 legislative session. My administration is taking the steps to put our priorities into policy and realize a transformed New Mexico, including a moonshot for public education. #PEDMoonshot
My budget proposal includes more than $500 million in additional funding for public education, a true moonshot for New Mexico’s students, educators, parents and communities, including a pay increase for teachers, principals and education personnel. #PEDMoonshot
