My fellow Virginians tune in as I deliver the State of the Commonwealth and how we plan to continue strengthening the Spirit of Virginia: I’m here this afternoon to communicate that the State of our Commonwealth is substantially better than it was a year ago.

This morning I am presenting my proposed budget amendments to the Joint Money Committee. Tune in: virginiageneralassembly.gov/house/chamber/… Let’s get started simply by saying: buckle up because we’re going to go fast. The revised budget I am asking you to adopt is all about two things: going faster and getting more done.

Standing here before you, and looking around this room, I’m struck by the history that’s been made in this place, the people’s house.
 
As well as the fact that the work you do here has great consequence for the people of Virginia. Virginians have sent us here to turn the page. They came out in record numbers to make their voice heard. They chose a new vision and new leaders to make that vision a reality. Tonight, I want to speak to that vision and begin our partnership to address these priorities.
