It's nearly impossible to communicate to non-Christians how incredibly offensive & alienating the commercialization of Christmas is to many Xians, b/c of course it's rooted in Christian hegemony.

I'm going to try to explain our visceral reaction for interested non-Christians. 1/ Imagine one of your holiest days stripped of nearly all theological weight & turned into a way to make money. Imagine the economy turning this holy day, a day for the celebration of God's solidarity with creation & with vulnerable creatures into a way to *prey* on them. 2/
