I was lucky enough to go to a great presentation just now @uwanews from professor @KiftSally. The focus of the talk was on first-year experience, transition, retention and, in particular, belonging. 1/x This is the second time in my life I've seen @KiftSally present live, the other being more than 15 years ago, and she's exceptionally engaging and knowledgeable. So many pearls of wisdom and gems of insight that it was like a jewelry store of learning!

THREAD: Why is it hard to detect 1 in 10 students who ever engage in #contractcheating? Problem 1: Students in a 3-year degree may do 75 assessments. 1 in 10 students outsourcing one of those is 1 in 750 assignments. Needle meet haystack. 2/ #contractcheating by way of custom ghost-writing creates work that will not usually get flagged for potential plagiarism by text-matching software.
