A constitutional oversight means the Society of Authors has to hold an EGM to vote on a pro-Palestine motion that it doesn't support and goes against its own remit as a non-political, non-partisan organisation that represents all 12000+ of its diverse members. 1/6 EGMs are very costly and time-consuming exercises, which divert money and resources away from what the SOA should be doing - helping and supporting authors, some of whom are in need. The SOA represents authors, not Palestine. It has no sway over international politics. 2/6
