It's hard to conceptualize how late sources can really be. In the case of the biographical material of the Prophet (Ibn Ishaq's), our earliest manuscript is 201 years after the Prophet's death (Ibn Hisham's recension). [🧵]
I provided modern examples to make it easier to conceptualize. Imagine writing the first biographical material of the 19th POTUS (1879) in 2024. This is equivalent to the distance of time between Ibn Ishaq and the Prophet (both 145 year difference).

The concept of the anti-Christ is a Christian polemic against Jews for denying Jesus. Ahlul-Hadith (modern-day sunnis) adopted it.
Eschatological summary:
Jews believed in the coming of a messiah
Jesus arrived claiming to be the messiah
A group of Jews sided with Jesus (later Christians), while another side claimed he wasn't the messiah and was false.
