1) Eight Key Muslim-majority countries—Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Araiba, Türkiye, UAE—issuing a JOINT statement on Trump’s “Board of Peace” (BOP) is a powerful—and I argue—smart response. Here’s why. 2) What it does: (i) Re-grounds effort in international law. (i) Creates Solidarity. Joining together as a group is more powerful than acting alone and signals they will negotiate as a block—possibly leave as a block. (iii) Avoids rejecting/angering Trump.

1- Trump’s “Board of Peace” to be rolled out this week in Davos is not “peace architecture.” It’s “control architecture” that centralizes power, dilutes legitimacy, and makes a long-term sustainable peace harder. Isn’t just about Gaza, it’s about team Trump’s approach to world.🧵 2- Not multilateralism—Trump retains lifetime veto. “1 state, 1 vote” is cosmetic if every decision still needs the Chairman Trump’s approval. That’s centralized control, not rules-based governance. (He also solely gets to appoint his own successor).
