🧵 MEGA THREAD

Debunking this shameless and outrageous attempt to exonerate Iran (and Iraqi Shia) from their alliance with the US during the invasion and occupation of Iraq.

(Before starting this refutation, do note that all my sources are linked either in the text of the relevant post, in the ALT function on each image or shown by the book's cover)Image This "lie" @A_E_P_1979 complains of is just Xumas posting several confessions from senior Iranian leaders and advisors, x.com/xumas_iq/statu… , where they admit that Iran had worked with the US in toppling the Taliban in Afghanistan and Saddam Hussein in Iraq.

This also included working with the US in setting up their new puppet states in each of the respective countries, which made the Shia dominant in Iraq. I'll post some of these statements in this thread when relevant.

So, how does he respond to this in his thread? He points out that Iran was publicly opposed to the US invasion and occupation of Iraq. He also claims that Shia militias (such as al-Sadr's Mahdi army) in Iraq backed by Iran were the main forces opposing and fighting the coalition.

He goes as far as to claim that Sunnis had only some resistance against the occupation and largely cooperated with the Americans. The said Sunni resistance would go on to abandon fighting the Americans, and would instead ally with them, focusing on sectarian war against the Shia. And speaking of the Shia, it was only "some anti-Iran" ones who worked with the coalition, according to him.

The first thing to deal with here is the obnoxious red herring he's pulling. Why does he not actually address these confessions? Does he think these officials are confused, or does he think these statements are fake, or are they taken out of context? If so, why didn't he demonstrate how they were? It's because he'd rather confuse the issue than admit to anything that contradicts his "Axis of Resistance" narrative.
