The discovery of the cause of hyperemesis gravidarum (extreme morning sickness) is a big deal. All of us who have been incapacited by nausea and vomiting all nine months can’t ever be told “it’s all in your head” or that we’re wimps ever again. 1/ The psychological toll of HG was the most difficult part of it. Morning sickness is typical in pregnancy so why can’t I cope? Having to beg health care providers for anti-nausea meds and being told “let’s just give it another week and see if you’re any better.” 2/
