I remember as they read the nominees, I went back in time..,I remembered that 8 year old Black Girl with a towel on her head holding a brush like a mic looking in the the mirror accepting my award. Knowing full damn well people who look like me don't get awards like that.

Grief was actively happening while we made this film. We pushed through and worked hard for Chad. We told stories and laughed at moments we remembered. It was hard. I honored him everyday, I wrote to him all over this movie, throughout the world we built. 1...a thread 2 There wasn't a day gone by, in nearly 750 days, that he wasn't with us. The cast and the crew needed to hold the moment. We needed to say goodbye and honor him through the work that we do. Panther will go on like many franchises, there will be new crew, new actors

A Thought:

Can we stop showing Black and White pictures of the entire decade of the 1960s so people stop thinking it was 1000 years ago. I’m two years younger than the Civil Rights movement. And Ruby Bridges lives down the street from me and is on Instagram. I don’t have anything to promote, but donate to this wonderful org I’m apart of, teaching Black Children about City/Urban Planning!

DUI - A THREAD!

My ex-boyfriend from many years ago, who is white, was pulled over for DUI a total of 4 times, in 2 years. Let me tell you about one of those instances.

At around 1:00 a.m. in the morning, my cell rings. I look and see it's my ex, I answer it's a man, not my ex, the man says: "Is this Hannah?" I answer, "He says, this is the NOPD, I'm here with *my ex's name* and we need you to come pick him up." I reply, "excuse me? who is this?" he replies, "It's the police we need you to pick up *my ex*"

Miami 2016

I’m moving in to an Air BnB in Miami Beach for work. It’s about 10 pm. I go down to get the last load out of my Jeep when I hear yelling, I look and see a man running towards me from a distance. I kinda just stood and watched him, frozen. As he got closer I realized he was running full speed AT me!

Without thinking, instinctively, I just hopped in my car driver seat and as I turned my head I see this man teaching for my passenger

This morning I must tell you of a whole ass eye opening experience I had, a thread!

I’m on the phone last night talking to someone I’ve presumably never spoken to before. A woman 10 years my senior. The conversation turns to the history of the historical black neighborhood here. I was talking about how that neighborhood was destroyed by the local government in the 1950s as were many around the country. She says to me in this crazy voice, “those f**king blacks...” (you know it wasn’t a capital B when she said it).
