I support Harvard's lawsuit against the federal funding freeze, & HJAA's members have a range of views

Legal action is necessary when dialogue through letters has failed

And defending academic freedom against government overreach is vital for all institutions Harvard would stand on firmer ground if it practiced the values it now defends

For an institution that scores 0 from FIRE on free speech, today's appeal to First Amendment protections feels hollow
