Irfan Habib, famous historian from AMU, is son of another historian/ politician Mohd. Habib. His grandfather Abbas Tayyabji was a comrade of Mahatma Gandhi & mother worked closely with Kasturba. Abbas was nephew of Badruddin Tayyabji, the first Muslim Congress President.
Badruddin Tayyabji, was the first Indian Chief Justice of Bombay HC & belonged to a well respected Bohra family. He was also one of the founders of Congress & a fierce critic of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan's politics. One of his grandsons & namesake served as VC of AMU during 1960s.
