Today also marks the fall of Budapest to the Soviet Union in 1945.
80% of buildings were destroyed, everything was looted. Many thousands of women, including children and the elderly, were raped(and often murdered) by Communist soldiers. No "war crime" trials were held.
The Mayor of Budapest recently ordered the construction of a memorial to the victims of sexual violence at the hands of Red Army, communist soldiers.

Today marks the anniversary of the Rosenberg's espionage trial (they were found guilty in 1951 and executed). Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were Jewish communists and spies for the USSR. The left denied their obvious guilt for many decades.
