It’s time for another thread about SafariSammie, the exotic animals that star in her videos, and the much darker story that her videos of nose boops, belly rubs, & interspecies play sessions don’t show. 🧵 Image A TLDR for the last thread: viral TikTok account SafariSammie stars the exotic animals owned by Carl Bovard of Single Vision Inc, a “nonprofit wildlife education facility”. Bovard’s website claims that the organization is dedicated to the conservation & education of wildlife.

On Oct. 11, 2022 HPAI (highly pathogenic avian influenza) hit Knuckle Bump Farms, home to Emmanuel the TikTok-famous emu. This left Emmanuel and a black swan named Rico as the sole survivors of a flock of 50+ birds. It also left many, including experts, looking for answers. 🧵 Controversy first began when owner Taylor Blake posted photos of her and Emmanuel w/o wearing PPE. Due to HPAI's ability to rapidly mutate, PPE is encouraged to prevent bird-to-human infection. However, Blake claimed that Emmanuel "freaks out" when people wear PPE around him.

Further proof that some vets shouldn’t be allowed to treat cats. To clarify: cats don’t get depressed when you spend time with them. Cats can get stressed with any significant change to established routines- that’s not because they hate you/don’t want to be around you, it’s because, like children and dogs, routine is comfortable for them.

This is making rounds again and I hate it because I’m 99% sure that both cats in the picture were declawed and that’s why they’re shaved like that. So I’m going to post a couple haircuts that I’ve done that didn’t involve cat mutilation: Image

Why you should vote for the Hoary bat: a thread.
What small mammal can be found in Canada, Hawaii, Bermuda, Iceland, Chile, & Scotland's Orkney Islands? That's right, it's this fluffy little powdered donut, bc underneath that floof & frosted tips is a tenacious, remarkable bat. Hoary bats are a migratory species, & travel some of the longest distances of any bat. In fact, they are the only bats- and the only extant, native terrestrial mammal- found in Hawai'i, having flown more than 2,236mi (3,600km) over the Pacific Ocean over 10,000 years ago.
