On this day in 1947 defending champions @the_Barrs and @SarsfieldsCork clashed in the @OfficialCorkGAA County Senior Hurling Championship Final at the old Cork Athletic Grounds in front of crowd of 23,493 spectators #corkhurlinghistory The Barr’s were looking to win their 14th @OfficialCorkGAA County Senior Hurling Championship, while @SarsfieldsCork were appearing in their fourth ever Final (1909, 1936 and 1940) and were still looking for their maiden title victory #corkhurlinghistory

On this day in 1903 @OfficialCorkGAA and @Kerry_Official clashed in both hurling and football at the Killarney Sports Field, the matches were organised to help reduce the debt incurred by enclosing the Sports Field and there was a large crowd present #corkhurlinghistory The Rebels were represented by @GaaRedmonds in hurling and by the now defunct Nils Desperandum Club in football. The hurling contest was a very tight affair with the sides deadlocked at the interval on a score line of @OfficialCorkGAA 2-02 to 1-05 for @Kerry_Official

On this day in 1903 the much delayed @MunsterGAA Senior Hurling Championship Final of 1902 between reigning champions @OfficialCorkGAA and @LimerickCLG took place at Tipperary Town in front of a large attendance, who were entertained by the St. Mary’s Band #corkhurlinghistory The days scoring began with a point for @OfficialCorkGAA and they then got their second courtesy of @RockiesCork Michael Cotter, before @LimerickCLG then took the lead with the games opening goal and they soon supplemented with a point #corkhurlinghistory

On this day in 1896 there was a @OfficialCorkGAA County Senior Football Championship match between Cork City rivals Lees and O’Briens at Cloghroe. The Cork Examiner reported that there were some extraordinary scenes witnessed and several people were injured #corkhurlinghistory The first 30 minutes were incident free, with Lees leading by 1-02 to no score for the O’Briens. The latter began the second half scoring with a point, to which the Lees replied with a brace of points before all the trouble kicked off #corkhurlinghistory

On this day in 1908 @RockiesCork and @MidletonGaa clashed in the @OfficialCorkGAA County Senior Hurling Championship Final at Queenstown. There was strangely very little reporting in the Cork Examiner for such an important fixture #corkhurlinghistory There was a large attendance present on what was a fine autumn day in East Cork.
