The consent principle in the Good Friday Agreement has 2 elements - firstly it related to the consent of the majority of people in the event of a border poll (1/5) The second element relates to the parallel consent mechanism which is designed to create cross-community support for votes in the Assembly. The McCord case which went to the Supreme Court in London was fought on the basis that Brexit breached the principle of consent. (2/5)

Here's a little Christmas story about my childhood/
The tablecloth was ironed and spread out over the big mahogany table, ready to be laid for the Christmas dinner the next day. The six MacBride children had divided up the tasks of peeling potatoes... and carrots, lighting the fires and polishing the shoes for Christmas morning mass according to their age and were washed and dressed in pyjamas and lined up on the living room couch.
