Boris Johnson's resignation is welcome but for Scotland it changes very little – we are still controlled by a broken Westminster system that saw fit to make him Prime Minister in the first place. Whoever replaces him, Scotland will still be saddled with a Tory government we didn't vote for imposing Brexit, austerity cuts and damaging policies against Scotland's will.

I am aware of the concerns of residents, their families and all staff members at Budhmor care home as to the future of the home, with Crossreach indicating they are not prepared to keep the care home open beyond the end of July. To put it mildly I am not at all impressed that whilst NHS Highland amongst others are engaged in a desire to determine whether Budhmor can be maintained as a care home that Crossreach are behaving in such a manner.

Boris Johnson's position is now completely untenable.

The Prime Minister is guilty of breaking lockdown rules and misleading parliament. He must resign - or be removed from office. The Sue Gray report is utterly damning. It has provided the final nail in the coffin against Boris Johnson's false claims that he would be exonerated.

Instead, it has provided conclusive evidence that rule-breaking events did happen and should never have taken place.

The Sue Gray report must be published in full and undoctored without further delay.

This UK government farce has gone on long enough. People are understandably concerned that this increasingly looks like a cover-up. It is a fact that Boris Johnson broke the rules, lied about it, and misled parliament.

This is an extremely serious resignation matter - and he must be held to account.

I have written to the Prime Minister @BorisJohnson post the allegations made against Simon Case the permanent secretary. "I write in reference to the serious allegations that have emerged in relation to two parties hosted at the Cabinet Secretary’s office last December, at which the Cabinet Secretary was present.

The UK government's proposed scheme doesn't go anywhere near far or fast enough to protect vulnerable Afghan refugees - including women and children, and all those who are seeing their human rights and lives at threat under the Taliban regime #Afghanistan The UK government shares responsibility for this major foreign policy disaster, which has seen millions of Afghans displaced and living in fear of what will happen next #Afghanistan

Boris Johnson has completely failed to deliver the investment and change required to build a strong, fair and equal recovery.

Instead the Tories are imposing the long-term damage of austerity cuts, Brexit and a power grab against Scotland's will. #QueensSpeech The Tories are repeating the same mistakes they made after the last economic crisis, by forcing through damaging cuts that are threatening Scotland's recovery. #QueensSpeech

The Tory government's decision to deny Scotland access to full furlough, outside of English lockdown periods, is outrageous and demonstrates Scotland will never be an equal partner in the UK.

Thousands have already lost their jobs due to Tory cuts. There must be a U-turn. Scotland has been calling for a full furlough extension, and the devolution of financial powers, for more than six months now - but the Tories have refused to listen and failed to act.

It is disgraceful that Westminster has only acted when the south of England needs support.

I’m afraid today’s statement by @RishiSunak fell far short of what is required to save jobs.

The Tory government is threatening Scotland's economy, and risking a winter of mass redundancies, by withholding the investment and powers needed to tackle this crisis #coronavirus The SNP has repeatedly called for a full job protection scheme but today's half measures go nowhere near far enough.

The Tory decision to scrap the furlough scheme next month puts 61,000 Scottish jobs at risk and will leave many good businesses struggling to survive.

Yesterday, @theSNP warned the Tory government's fiscal plans don’t go anywhere near far enough to protect jobs and prevent lasting damage to our economy.

Today, companies have announced around 10,000 job losses with growing warnings of mass redundancies.

itv.com/news/2020-07-0… No one is pretending that every job can be saved. But there is little point in Tory ministers apologising on breakfast TV, then refusing to take the action required. If the Tories refuse to act - they will bear their share of responsibility for the jobs that are lost as a result.

To say today's fiscal statement was underwhelming and disappointing is a significant understatement.

What should have been a major recovery package of at least £80bn+ in investment, failed to meet the scale of ambition needed to protect jobs and tackle this unprecedented crisis. Worst of all - the Tory government is threatening Scotland's recovery by prematurely cutting off the furlough scheme for millions of workers, and withholding the crucial financial powers that Scotland needs to deliver tailored support for people, public services and businesses.

I have been asked by a number of people if I can clarify what is likely to happen between NHS Highland and HC One in terms of the ownership and running of Home Farm care home. Let me reiterate that all parties have the best interests of the residents, their families and staff in arriving at the best solution for the future of Home Farm.

It has been confirmed to me that one of the staff members at Home Farm who had previously tested positive for covid-19, recovered and was tested negative twice has tested positive again. The staff member concerned was re-rested on Sunday and received confirmation last night that they were positive. It is important to stress that when someone does test positive having previously had covid-19 that they may not necessarily be infectious.

The care Inspectorate’s case relating to the operators of the Home Farm Care Home in Portree, HC One came in front of the Sheriff Court in Inverness yesterday with a judgment that the case is to be heard again on the 24th June. First & foremost has to be the well being of the residents and their families as well as the staff working at Home Farm. The community of Skye has supported all of those caught up in this situation and in particular our thoughts are with the families of those who have passed away

It is now beyond any doubt that Dominic Cummings did break lockdown rules. @BorisJohnson has no choice but to remove him from post. This is now a matter of the Prime Minister’s own integrity - and his overriding responsibility to protect public health and trust in his government. I have just finished a meeting with @BorisJohnson, in which I told the Prime Minister that he needs to put his responsibilities to public health first and remove Dominic Cummings from post. There cannot be one rule for the Tory government and another for the rest of us.

I’m afraid this is what millions of people across the UK will think after that disgraceful display of arrogance from @BorisJohnson.

It cannot be one rule for the Tory government and another for the rest of us. Johnson is trying to take the public for fools - but it won’t wash. Image In a desperate attempt to save Dominic Cummings, Boris Johnson has thrown public health advice and the sacrifice of millions to the wind.

His refusal to act demeans his office and will cause lasting damage to public confidence in the Tory government and its response to Covid-19.

This has gone for too long. @BorisJohnson now has very serious questions to answer about his judgement and integrity. The Prime Minister cannot dodge scrutiny any longer. That’s why I’m calling for him to come out of hiding and face the press at today’s conference. The public deserve the truth. Boris Johnson must put on record what he knew about Dominic Cummings' rule-breaking and whether he played a role in the Downing Street cover-up, which kept the public in the dark for eight weeks.

Following the news that Dominic Cummings travelled from London to Durham during lockdown and his behaviour was investigated by the Police, his position is completely untenable - he must resign or be sacked. This is a key test of leadership for Boris Johnson.
People must have confidence that the Tory government is following its own rules - not being investigated by the police for breaking them.

NHS Highland have provided an update on the Covid-19 outbreak on Skye, I am grateful for the NHS providing the public with details of the outbreak. First and foremost my thoughts are with all those affected, the residents of Home Farm, the staff at home farm as well as all their family members and friends who will of course have worries as to the impact of the virus.

I understand that the West Coast Railway who operate the Jacobite Steam Train have “issued lines” to the media which criticises me for calling them out for taking bookings for their service between Fort William and Mallaig whilst the lockdown is in place. I asked the Jacobite railway not to take bookings until we know that it is safe for people to come to the Highlands is because that is what constituents have asked me to do. The company claims I have not asked other companies to stop taking bookings for the next weeks.

As people will be aware due to the current situation there has been a huge spike in the numbers of applications for social security entitlements such as #UniversalCredit Unfortunately, departments and systems that have been bleed dry by a long history of Tory austerity are understandably struggling to work through the current backlog. This is of course exacerbated by current restrictions which require people to self-isolate.
