In a few weeks it’ll be 8 years since my mom died from a rare cancer. I was a sophomore at Yale at the time and one of the most traumatic things I had to contend with was being a 20 year old navigating an academic system that was not designed to give one shit about grief. 1/ Yale had no policy at the time to accommodate a short leave of absence. All I wanted was a semester off to take care of family affairs, and idk mourn my mother’s passing - but there was no way to do it without taking a full year - so I stayed while barely able to sleep or eat. 2/

In 2019 while at @Pinterest, I wrote in an eng focused trust & safety slack channel that a popular white supremacist was in fact, a white supremacist, and his content should be removed. I also provided context and examples of content that violated our policies. 1/

A few months later I was doxxed by a white male colleague who took issue with my evidence backed recommendations. He worked with a well known org to make sure my PII was spread across right wing channels. Want to guess how @Pinterest responded? 2/
