The new border policy flies in the face of international and U.S. law and basic morality.
It will put the lives of countless asylum-seekers at risk.
"The right to seek asylum is a fundamental human right. So core are the rights of refugees and asylum seekers that the United States of America led two separate UN conventions explicitly outlining the legal obligations of States to protect them."

Today, we led over 70 elected officials from the United States and Brazil in condemning recent insurrections in our countries and the coordination between far-right agitators. Here’s what we said: theguardian.com/world/2023/jan…
As lawmakers in Brazil and the United States, we stand united against the efforts by authoritarian, anti-democratic far-right actors to overturn legitimate election results and overthrow our democracies

Just voted NO on the $850+ billion Pentagon budget. (THREAD)
The annual pentagon spending bill now totals over $850 billion. That’s more than $55 billion over what the President requested. It is unconscionable to spend a record-breaking amount on our defense budget while thousands of Minnesotans in my district struggle to make ends meet.

Four years ago, when I arrived in Washington to be sworn in to Congress, with many firsts next to my name, my father was beaming. It wasn’t just that I was going to serve in the United States Congress, it was that I was serving with *this* Speaker of the House.
Nancy Pelosi is a first among firsts—the first woman to ever serve as Speaker of the House and the first to lead any party in any chamber of the U.S. Congress.

Today marks one year since the attacks of January 6th. I will never forget the experience of fearing for my life, my fellow members, and staff on a day designed to show the strength of our democracy.
I will never forget the call I made to the father of my children, asking him to tell my children I loved them if I couldn’t.

Like many of us, I have watched the immense human tragedy in Afghanistan in horror. My heart goes out to the Afghan people, especially the many Afghans who risked their lives for a safer, freer Afghanistan...
...as well the of countless Americans who served in this conflict, thousands of whom made the ultimate sacrifice.

.@SecPompeo is *refusing* to testify before @HouseForeign, the committee that oversees the State Department, about the escalation with Iran.
Since the administration is not allowing us to do our constitutional oversight, I will share what I would have asked him.
The President has repeatedly said he is looking for a deal with Iran after he tore up the JCPOA.
Why, after leaving the JCPOA, after maximum pressure, after killing Soleimani, after threatening to bomb cultural sites, would the Iranians be more likely to agree to a new deal?

It is clear to me that based on the people Betsy Devos surrounds herself with, and her own profiteering off the backs of our communities, she is unfit to oversee the Department of Education.
Betsy Devos is selecting aids that profit off the billions of taxpayer dollars flowing from the Dept of Education to corporate interests.
