राजा शांतनु चंद्र वंश के परम प्रतापी नरेश थेे। वह चक्रवर्ती  सम्राट भरत, जिनके नाम से हमारे देश का नाम भारत पड़ा, की 14वीं पीढ़ी मैं हुए थे।

🌺।।जब श्रीकृष्ण ने सत्यभामा को ये समझाया कि जो मनुष्य पुण्य कर्म करने वाले लोगों का दर्शन, स्पर्श और उनके साथ वार्तालाप करता है, वह उनके पुण्य का छठा अंश प्राप्त कर लेता है।।🌺

महाभारत काल में लगभग साढ़े पांच हज़ार वर्ष पहले एक महान आत्मा का अवतरण हुआ जिसे हम भीम पौत्र बर्बरीक के नाम से जानते हैं। महीसागर संगम स्थित गुप्त क्षेत्र में नवदुर्गाओं की सात्विक और निष्काम तपस्या कर बर्बरीक ने दिव्य बल और तीन तीर व धनुष प्राप्त किए।

After the student bachelor has completed his gurukulavasa, his parents approach the parents of a girl belonging to a good family and ask them to give away their daughter in marriage to their son, to make a gift of their daughter (Kanyadana) to him. A marriage arranged like this is brahma.

In Brahma marriage girl's family does not give any dowry or jewellery to the boy's family. There is no "commercial transaction" and the goal of a Brahma marriage is the dharmic advancement of two families. Of the eight forms of marriage the dharmasastras regard this as the highest.
